FPGA Developer for high-performance instrumentation (m/f/d)

You

You acquired outstanding FPGA development skills in your Bachelor or Master studies as well as in your professional career. With your passion about FPGA design you want to contribute to the research of tomorrow and therefore enable new scientific breakthroughs.

Who we are

Swabian Instruments is a research-driven company based in Stuttgart, Germany. We develop novel instrumentation for generating and acquiring digital signals, with applications in timing & synchronization, life sciences, and quantum technology. The key to our success is combining high-performance hardware with an intuitive yet powerful software engine that streamlines data processing and analysis in real-time. Ultimately, this makes it possible for our customers, e.g. MIT, Harvard University, Cambridge University and NASA, to solve their measurement and analysis challenges efficiently. In 2019, our team was a finalist in Germany’s most prestigious entrepreneur award, the Deutscher Gründerpreis, and won second place at the Stuttgarter Innovation Award in 2021.

Your contribution

  • Design low jitter FPGA-based time-to-digital converters
  • Develop FPGA designs for demanding digital pattern generation
  • Take responsibility for the whole development cycle of FPGA designs
  • Engineer high-speed interfaces for our devices, like 10 GbE via SFP+ transceivers
  • Optional: Develop C++ (e.g. microcontroller firmware) or Python for automated testing

Your profile

  • Bachelor or Master degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Good FPGA design skills by having completed at least one major FPGA project
  • C++, Python and electronics development skills are a plus
  • Very good in written and spoken English

What you can expect

  • Stick to your own flow: we offer flexible and trust-based working hours
  • First-class IT and office equipment on every workspace
  • You can flexibly switch between working in our modern office and home office
  • Tech stack: Verilog/VHDL, Xilinx Vivado, Git + CI via Gitlab, Linux-based build servers
  • Events like monthly workshops in the development team, movienights, …
  • Coffee specialties, tea and fruits for free - ice cream in the summer :)
