The <Q| School Single Photonics Short Course, presented by CU Boulder and NIST, brought together students, researchers, and industry partners to explore the fundamentals and applications of single photonics. Through lectures and hands-on labs, participants engaged with detectors, sources, and measurement techniques, including live demonstrations featuring Swabian Instruments’ Time Taggers. This unique program fostered collaboration across academia and industry, deepening understanding of quantum technologies and future applications.

In June, Swabian Instruments joined Laser World of Photonics and World of Quantum 2025 in Munich, where we unveiled our new partnership with ID Quantique. Together, we showcased photon number resolution (PNR) with IDQ’s p-SNSPDs and our Time Taggers, alongside live demos of fluorescence lifetime, remote synchronization with White Rabbit, and reaction-time testing.

In 2021, Swabian Instruments received the Stuttgarter Innovationspreis. This prestigious award honors the outstanding companies from Stuttgart that shape the future with their innovative ideas.
The distinguished jury led by the mayor of Stuttgart Dr. Frank Nopper included renowned innovation experts and leaders of successful business initiatives from the region.
The award appreciates our efforts to develop cutting edge measurement instrumentation for photonic quantum technology that we have been pushing forward together with our international customers over the past few years.

In 2019, Swabian Instruments was a Top 3 finalist of the Deutscher Gründerpreis, Germany's most prestigious entrepreneur award.
The distinguished jury of the partner companies Porsche, Stern, ZDF, and the Sparkasse selected Swabian Instruments out of more than 600 prominent nominees. The jury was impressed by the "outstanding scientific competence" and the "persuasiveness of the founders".

In 2018 the Innovationspreis Baden-Württemberg, the most prestigious innovation award in the state, was awarded to Swabian Instruments by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut.
In her laudation, Dr. Christine Neuy, Managing Director of the microTEC cluster Südwest, summarized the outstanding achievements of Dr. Helmut Fedder, Dr. Michael Schlagmüller, and Markus Wick with a quote from Galileo Galilei: "Measure what can be measured, and make measurable what cannot be measured." "With the development of the Time Tagger, the three scientists have revolutionized measurement technology and enabled scientists all over the world to perform their measurements in a flexible, scalable, and cost-efficient way", she said.
